(Senior) Software Developer (m/f/d) Backend Go – Instance

Our Hetzner Cloud team consists of around 80 employees and works both remotely across Germany and from our office in Munich (Unterföhring).

The Instance Team develops the heart of Hetzner Cloud: the platform on which thousands of virtual servers are created every day. Together, the team expands core cloud products such as Cloud Servers, Volumes and Snapshots, contributes its own ideas and tackles exciting scaling challenges to keep our infrastructure reliable and scalable.

The team relies on modern technologies such as Go, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker and Kafka, but doesn’t follow every hype, true to the motto “the right tool for the job”. A mature CI/CD pipeline based on GitLab, Docker and Kubernetes enables efficient development, while automated tests and code reviews ensure safety and quality. Because good tooling is essential to the work, it is continuously being improved.

This position includes an on-call rotation to maintain our services which can be performed remotely within Germany.

The annual salary for this position is between €68,000 and €101,000 gross. The exact salary level will be determined based on professional experience and the scope of responsibilities.

What you’ll do

• You develop and expand our cloud products Cloud Servers, Volumes and Snapshots

• You work with a Continuous Integration/Deployment pipeline based on GitLab, Docker and Kubernetes

• You write clean, understandable code (DRY, KISS) and automated tests

• You carry out code reviews together with your team

• You independently update and maintain existing documentation

• You take part in an on-call rotation, ensuring our services run reliably

• You have excellent programming skills in Go

• You have experience with database systems and event-driven systems (Kafka)

• You are familiar with Docker, GitLab and Kubernetes

• You value clean, understandable code (DRY, KISS) and automated testing

• You work reliably, independently and flexibly, and document your projects in a structured and self-directed manner

• You speak and write German and English fluently
